Netflix and the BBC have officially approved a sequel to Peaky Blinders, one of the most popular series in recent years. The two platforms have given the series a two-season renewal, taking the story into the future.
Peaky Blinders is back
The Peaky Blinders film, which will pick up where the original series left off, will be released before the end of this year. However, in addition to the film, the series will also continue the adventures of the Shelby family.
With the approval, each season of the sequel will consist of six episodes. The new project will be helmed by original series creator Steven Knight. Cillian Murphy, the star of the original series, will also serve as a producer.
The Peaky Blinders sequel takes the story forward several years, rather than focusing on the adventures of Thomas Shelby. The series will take place in 1953, in Birmingham, a city struggling to recover from World War II. Set during this period, the series will focus on the next generation of the Shelby family.
